TITANIC LIVE – 1998
Over one year in planning led to this historic expedition to the Titanic. New technology was created to enable linking up manned and unmanned submersibles two-and-a-half miles under the ocean to create the first ever live broadcast from a manned sub at the site of the Titanic.

In addition to technical planning for the live link up and overseeing the operations of the broadcast, Bob dove with the team that photographed a 20 ton piece of the Titanic hull (“The Big Piece”) as it approached the surface on a rise tethered to lift bags filled with diesel fuel. This was a “Watch With The World” event broadcast live on Discovery networks around the world simultaneously.
